Le plan est plastifié et très pratique.
Until you get to Venice you have no idea how useless this map is. It's so small that there is no way you can read it and forget about it if it's even slightly dark. I suggest a fold out paper map....yep...I would normally NEVER do this and HATE looking like a tourist but you need one for a back up if you get poor reception in areas. There are so many places where street names change or you just can't find a street name. Even with Google Maps it was tricky as it can't always find the direction you are going in but having my phone and a paper map was the only way to go. If anyone wants to buy mine....I would be happy to sell it. It's horrible!
I bought several of these maps for my visit to Italy. I didn't care for them. Hard to read and the city is divided so you have to flip back and forth losing your place when trying to find directions. They are nicely made, but I wouldn't waste the money. Our hotel gave us a city map and it was much easier to use and read and FREE!
On positive side, sturdy laminated map, and able to find streets by looking them up on alphabetical list of streets. Also larger area covered than free maps given by hotels etc. On the negative side, print is very small, if use magnifiers will need them to read while on the move. I studied maps prior to arrival so I was somewhat familiar with were I was starting from.
This map is a lifesaver if you actually want to get somewhere specific in Venice. We were given maps by the hotel and water taxi and in our guidebook (and had downloaded Google map of Venice) but this one was by far the most detailed and easy to use for those times when we actually wanted to get to a specific location or take the quickest route through town (not always recommended in Venice, where the point is to wander!).
First, this is for the edition Amazon sold in December 2011, which is apparently the 2008 edition.The only problem I had with this map, which is a problem I have with many maps, is that the print is often too small for 50-some-year-old eyes and poor lighting conditions. I suspect longterm I may shift to a good GPS.But the map was good, better than the free one available all over town, and includes the Vaporetto routes. Streetwise has a separate Venice Vaporetto rioute map, which is included here, so don't buy both.
